So it looks like someone converted this and if so, they did a great job. The history of Ode banjos went thru many changes in specs and a lot of their instruments were also custom made for each buyer so it could also be a custom model. He said the neck with wooden dowel would have gone on an aluminum pot, not a wooden pot.

All hardware on this instrument is very heavily nickelplated. The mother-of-pearl inlay work is offset by the African ebony fingerboard, peghead overlay and heel cap. We believe this banjo to be a model 32 with a style-A rim, however, this cannot be confirmed. This instrument features a handshaped neck made of fine South American mahogany. The other, is a modern and much safer gig bag by Gold tone which is in like new condition. Also included are two gig bags, one appears to either be original or made during the same time frame as the banjo being a canvas/leather type. The frets are in excellent condition showing very little wear.
This banjo is in very good condition showing normal signs of wear and age which include small scratches & dings on the rim, neck and headstock, minor tarnishing on metal hardware, and slight bubbling of the finish on the rim cap.
